ARTIST STATEMENT
Anime… wasn’t always considered cool! Growing up with this medium, it has definitely
influenced the art I create today. I am a digital artist with a degree in Illustration, specializing in
2D background design for animation. Over the years, my artistic style has been shaped by my
childhood favorites anime series like: Sailor Moon, Pokémon, and Black Butler. These influence
the narratives I am interested in sharing with an audience.

I’ve always been fascinated by Victorian and Gothic architecture, and I enjoy
incorporating these elements into my work. My art remains cartoon-like, with a strong emphasis
on line work, which allows me to best express myself. I am also passionate about nature and all
things blue and green. As someone who experiences anxiety, I find peace in nature, (themed)
cafes, and food. These things that keep me inspired and grounded. Nothing makes me happier
than sketching from life, whether that be at parks, cafes, or at art markets.

In addition to digital art, I’ve been exploring traditional mediums like ceramics and
painting, trying to keep my skills sharp. My love for nature and green does influence my
work; I’ve created cups and hope to focus on vases that share my connection to nature.

Regarding my long term goals, I am eager to gain animation in-house studio experience,
whether as a production assistant or artist. I believe in continuous learning and want to share my
experiences with students. So far, I’ve explored partnerships and 2D production coordination
through Asians In Animation, and various other departments within the field thanks to freelance
work, but I’m interested in learning much more about the industry’s ins and outs. I also aspire to
develop a more consistent and recognizable art style, growing as an artist.
